Sometimes we aren't sure why we don't feel like ourselves
-
job stress and burnout
-
role shifts within your family
-
facing a new medical diagnosis
-
relationship patterns and boundaries
-
experiencing a loss
-
supporting a loved one's health
Or maybe the tension is in your relationship...
You can remember what things were like when you first met, and maybe today you are wondering "how did we get here?" I work with couples looking to find new ways to connect and move forward.
You may be:
-
Feeling disconnected from each other, which is easy in a world today that is so busy with work, raising children, taking classes, and tending to day-to-day obligations
-
Working to find new ways of talking about the same challenging topics that bring up so much tension
-
Noticing that things have changed since having children, or having a parent move in with you
-
Working toward healing from a loss of trust because of something that happened

Meet Sarah Barboza
Hello! My name is Sarah Barboza, and I am a licensed clinical social worker in California. I specialize in supporting people through life transitions and relationship challenges. I have passion for empowering my clients to find healing and meaning after loss and disconnection. I am accepting new clients in the Bay area and via telehealth throughout California.
Common FAQS
Do you take my insurance?
Yes, I accept insurance; coverage depends on your plan and the nature of the services. Reach out for more info!
If I can't use my insurance, what are your rates?
My fee is $200 for a 60 minute session and $250 for a 75 minute session, which I recommend for couples.
If you are seeking longer sessions, those times and prorated fees can be collaboratively discussed to be implemented.
Where do you see clients?
I see clients in person at my Walnut Creek office, and via telehealth.
Do you offer online therapy?
Yes, I offer online therapy to adults and couples throughout California. You can meet with me from the privacy and comfort of your own home, without adding another trip to your already busy schedule.
Do you work with couples?
Yes, I work with couples who are dealing with recurring conflict, communication challenges, disconnection, life transitions, caregiving, and other relationship challenges. I welcome couples of all backgrounds, identities, and relationship structures.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
You don't have to be in crisis to come to therapy. If something in your life isn't working the way you'd like, or you feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure about what comes next, therapy can give you space to slow down and figure out what you need.
What can I expect from my first session?
Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and talk about what's bringing you to therapy. I'll ask questions about what you've been experiencing, what you'd like to be different, and what you're hoping for from therapy.
How often will we meet?
Most of my clients start with weekly sessions so we have some consistency as we get to know each other and begin our work. Over time, we can adjust the frequency based on your needs and what feels right for you.
How do I get started?
You can reach out through my contact form to schedule a consultation. You don't need to know exactly what to say. Just tell me a little about what's bringing you to therapy, and we'll take it from there. We can then schedule a free phone 20 minute consultation to answer any questions you may have and see if we are a good fit for each other.
